This course provides current colorectal residents from around the country with a two day experience focused on career and personal development. Course participation will be by-invitation-only with enrollment limited to ACGME certified, board eligible colon and rectal surgery programs. Day 1 includes lectures by past presidents and esteemed leaders of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgery, focusing on finding a job, building referral patterns, establishing an academic or private practice career, work-life integration and learning from mistakes. Day 2 will include interactive sessions and panel discussions.

Course Description

The course is a comprehensive professional development program designed to prepare colorectal surgery residents for a successful transition into independent practice. Through expert-led presentations, panel discussions, breakout sessions, and networking opportunities, participants will gain practical knowledge on career pathways, personal and professional well-being, work-life integration, lifelong learning, and career planning, equipping residents with the tools needed to build fulfilling and sustainable careers in colorectal surgery.
