STANDARDIZED LETTER OF EVALUATION
The 2027 Application Season opens June 4, 2026.
The Association of Program Directors for Colon and Rectal Surgery (APDCRS) requires the use of the Colon and Rectal Surgery Standardized Letter of Evaluation (SLOE), formerly the Resident Assessment Application, for applicants to our residency programs.
APDCRS’ primary goal is to provide programs with a structured, comparable evaluation of applicants across key competencies relevant to colorectal surgery training. Its secondary goal is to make the process of completing the SLOE easier to accomplish in a timely manner.
If you are asked to complete the SLOE on behalf of an applicant, please note the following:
- Please visit the 2027 Residency Timeline for more information.
- The applicant must provide the letter writer with the assigned ERAS letter writer token.
- This token (unique letter/number combination) is required for a letter writer to upload the SLOE.
- Letter writers must download and complete the Standardized Letter of Evaluation. Alternatively, the applicant may download it and send it to the writer for use. Letters which are not in this format will not be considered. Narrative letters which accompany the standard letter will not be considered. If it is sent, it will be deleted at the program level before it is circulated to program’s recruitment committees.
The completed evaluation must be uploaded through ERAS using the unique letter writer token.
Please contact the ERAS Helpline @ 202-862-6298 for any issues regarding ERAS.
